Dinner Rolls (Stone Ground Flour)

Prep Time:

15 minutes making dough
40 minutes rise
10 minutes shaping into rolls
40 minutes rise
25 minutes bake time

25 minutes

Serves:

Makes: 12 Rolls

Ingredients

1 1/4 cups lukewarm water

3 Tablespoons sugar

1/3 cup oil

2 teaspoon salt

2 eggs

3 1/2 teaspoons quick-rise instant yeast

4 - 5 cups all-purpose white flour

Preparation

Step 1

  • Put all ingredients into mixing bowl. Stir. Let set 5 minutes.

Step 2

  • Knead in bowl with dough hooks or by hand 4-5 minutes. If after a couple of minutes the dough is still really sticky, add a little more flour.

Step 3

  • Let raise in cold oven with light on 40 minutes.

Step 4

  • Divide dough in quarters. Divide each quarter into 3 pieces to make 12 even pieces of dough. Make a circle with thumb and forefinger and push a piece of dough through that circle to make a nice round dinner roll. Place the rolls on a greased pan, first rolling the top of the roll on the butter or oil in the pan so each top is greased.

Step 5

  • Let raise on counter for 40 minutes. Heat oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit and bake 25 minutes.
